Hearing Aid Services

The Audiology Department at Central Carolina Ear, Nose, Throat and Audiology Center is staffed by licensed audiologists and audiometric technicians. Our team of professionals provide exceptional hearing aid services to both children and adults. We began dispensing hearing aids to ensure the utmost in hearing healthcare is attained and to provide professional hearing aid services at a reasonable cost to our patients.

To determine the need for amplification, patients complete a comprehensive hearing evaluation. If amplification is indicated, the audiologist works closely with the patient in determining the most applicable hearing system. Our Audiology Department provides the most technologically advanced hearing instruments available from leading hearing aid manufacturers.

Our audiologists work in concurrence with our physicians. Following a comprehensive audiological (hearing) and otological (medical) exam, your audiologist may suggest that you would benefit from wearing hearing aids. Should you decide to wear amplification, a complete hearing aid service is offered by our office.

Hearing Aid Evaluation

A comprehensive audiogram will be completed (if you have not had one within the last six months). The results of this testing will be used to determine your candidacy for hearing aids. You will be shown hearing aid options and individual features along with technologies available will be discussed.  In some situations, you will be able to try on a demonstration pair of hearing aids in the office.

Hearing Aid Fitting

Once the hearing aids you have selected are available, you will be seen for a hearing aid fitting. During this appointment, the hearing aids will be programmed to your hearing prescription, as determined by your hearing test. You will be taught how to use, handle, and clean the hearing aids – as well as given other important information. If you plan to have someone assist you with the care of your hearing aids, it is important that you bring the individual with you to the fitting appointment.
